O para bhikkhu, tebanglah seluruh hutan nafsu, bukan hanya sebatang pohonnya saja! Mara bahaya datang dari hutan nafsu. Bilamana engkau telah menebang hutan dan akar nafsu, maka engkau telah bebas dari nafsu.

O, para Bhikkhu, bebaten alas-napsu, awit karana saka alas iku tuwuh rasa jirih. Sawise mbab ti alas lan grumbul-napsumu, sira bakal dadi wong kang ora duwe napsu.

Cut down the whole forest (of desires), not a tree only! Danger comes out of the forest (of desires). When you have cut down both the forest (of desires) and its undergrowth, then, Bhikshus, you will be rid of the forest and of desires!

vana chindatha m rukkha

vanato jyate bhaya

chetv vanań ca vanathań ca

nibban hotha bhikkhavo
